Day Three NICU Update
**Mommy Note-
I called the NICU to check on Drew's progress since I left. His air flow was turned down from 3 liters to 2 liters at 5pm. He took 30mL of milk at his 5pm feeding. This is a full ounce of milk. His iv fluid is down to a 2 and will be turned off after his 8pm feeding. They will keep the iv in place over the next few feedings to make sure blood sugar levels are where they need to be. Drew will get 32 mL of milk at 8pm. He is still on the billy blanket and probably will be for another day or so. By the time I get there tomorrow, Drew should be off iv fluid and maybe have his iv out all together. He also may be completely off the air flow. The nurse could try to bottle feed as early as tomorrow. These are huge milestones that our sweet Drew is accomplishing. These milestones put him closer to coming home. As we know from our prior NICUexperience with Sam, there are no guarantees. A lot of babies experience "2 steps forward and then 1 step back." This makes for slow progress. We want our little guy home, but the Lord only knows when that will be. Drew is a very strong baby and we are very proud of all he has accomplished thus far. He is only 3 days old. :) Tomorrow is Friday....I would have been 34 weeks along. Crazy!
