Sushi Sam

Sam ordered sushi for dinner the other night. He did try several different rolls but decided that he doesn't like sushi. He loves edamame(boiled soy beans). He also liked the shrimp tempura from Nick's plate. He said next time he is gonna order what Daddy ordered. We were very proud that he at least tried the sushi. Sam has never been afraid to try new things. He couldn't get enough of the pita and hummus we had for lunch.

Fireworks

These two sleepy heads stayed up late the other night to watch fireworks.  We could see the show from our back deck. There were more shows around town tonight but we decided to stay in. Sam was super tired this morning after staying up.  Maybe we'll catch another show later this week.

Happy Friday Folks!

We are so happy it's FRIDAY!!! We are looking forward to some time with Nick this weekend.  Mr. Drew Asher is 12 pounds and Mr. Samuel Nicolas is right at 41 pounds. Drew's sweet neck gets stronger and stronger with each passing day. Sam is getting better at writing his letters and putting sounds together for some early reading. We sure are enjoying this summer. :)

Friendly Faces

We saw some friendly faces this afternoon.  Jes and Lindsey came over to visit and then we went to lunch. It was great to catch up with them.  Check out the shoes Jes got for Drew. Super cute huh!

Nature Center

We took a hike with Grandmother, Mikayla, and Melody yesterday at Lichterman Nature Center. It was very warm, but the breeze was nice. Drew slept the whole time all snuggly in the moby wrap. I wrapped him a new way for the 1st time today. He seemed to like having his legs out. We definitely want to go back to the nature center soon.

11 Weeks

Drew is 11 weeks old today. He weighs 11 pounds and 3 ounces. With the exception of last night, he has been sleeping through the night. The previous 4 nights, we put him down between 8 and 9pm and he slept until 5 or 6am. We think he woke up last night because a little helper put a night light in his room. He woke us up @3am to let us know he wasn't happy. We'll see if this sleeping all night thing continues.  Sam started consistently sleeping through the night at @ 9 weeks old...but he did have some extra training in the NICU. Drew is almost busting out of all of his newborn clothes. He is mostly wearing size 3 months. He had been in size 1 pampers for about a month now. He is still nursing 6-9 times a day and we continue to supplement with 4-10oz of formula per day. Drew likes his swing, floor gym, and bouncy chair. He loves Sam! Big brother gets a kick out of watching little brother smile and coo. Drew has been cooing a lot more and he sucks in air like a laugh when he's excited.  So sweet! His neck is super strong. He amazes us at how well he holds his head up. It's hard to believe he will be 3 months old in 2 weeks. He has stolen our hearts for sure!

Travel Burp

Check out these pictures.  One is of Sam getting burped by Nick after visiting Paducah.  The other is of Drew on our way home after visiting Paducah. Sam was 3 1/2 months old while Drew is 2 1/2 months old.

Movie Theater

We took Grandmother with us to see a movie today. We loved it! Drew nursed and then slept the whole time.

Sam's Family Tree

Sam made this in Sunday school this morning.  His teachers were very confused about the number of people in our family. Ha! Sam included the dogs, 2 cousins, and a neighbor. So sweet!

Hayden Reunion

We traveled to Paducah,  KY today to visit aunts, uncles, and cousins on Grandmother's side of the family. The food was delicious and the kiddos had a blast in the pool. I sure wish I had gotten more pictures.  Maybe somebody can email theirs. :)

10 Weeks Old

Drew turned 10 weeks old yesterday.  Not sure how much he weighs this week...I would say he's close to 11lbs if not already there. He enjoys hearing his brother talk and sing to him. He just smiles away and kicks his arms and legs. Drew seemed to notice one of the dogs for the 1st time this morning.  He just stared. When he moves his arms and makes contact with a hanging toy, Drew seems both surprised and proud of himself.  He is usually wide eyed and awake for a period in the morning and the evening.  Throughout the day,  he usually only wakes up to eat. When we were at my parent's house on Sunday,  he slept the whole time as he was passed from cousin to aunt to uncle to Mommy to eat and back again.  I don't think my parents held him once in all that passing. Drew is quickly outgrowing his newborn outfits. Last weekend I discovered a whole tub of clothes that I somehow overlooked.  We'll have to do multiple daily wardrobe changes in order to get wear out of all of it.
