Getting Close to 5 Months Old
Just about a week and a half away from turning 5 months old. Wow, time sure does fly. Sam is changing more and more with each passing day. He seems to do something new all the time. He is really drooling a lot lately. We almost have to keep a bib on him all the time to catch the spit. I don't see any teeth breaking through yet. He likes to chew on his burp cloth or his bib. It must feel good on his gums. We have been putting Sam in his jumperoo this past week. His feet don't quite touch the ground yet. He likes looking at all the toys on it. We weighed Sam the other day and he has reached 17 pounds. He is still only 24 inches long. We can tell that his feet are starting to get bigger. We will soon be graduating to size 3 diapers. Sam has now had all of the stage 1 fruits and vegetables. He is doing great! :)

4 1/2 Months Old
Sam is 16 pounds and 5 ounces. He is 24 inches long. What a big growing boy! This afternoon Nick got off work early and we went to see the new Harry Potter movie. Sam did pretty good. We did have to give him a bottle half way into the show. He was a little noisy while he was sleeping...but I don't think anyone noticed except Nick and I. Sam is a pro at eating veggies now. So far he has tried sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, and sweet peas. He doesn't seem to like carrots too much. He will eat them, but he seems to enjoy all the others better. We have one more stage 1 veggie to try before moving onto fruits. Sam's new thing this past week is getting his giggle box turned over. The first time he did it, I was singing a funny song to him and he just couldn't stop laughing. The next day Nick got him going when they were playing on his floor gym. I got that time on video....it's too cute for words. Sam has really starting holding his head up higher and is starting to push his chest up. This is a new thing, so he only does it for a moment and then gets mad. We'll keep practicing. He loves his floor gym...it has a hanging penguin and gator. Sam boxes at the two of those when playing on his back. I got a few pictures of it...he really does look like he's boxing. We are having so much fun this summer. It's hard to believe we are coming to the end of another summer. Please keep me in your prayers. I have had several interviews and am waiting to hear if I will have a teaching position in the fall or not. Nick and I have put our trust in God.

Yummy Sweet Potatoes!
Sam had sweet potatoes for the 1st time on Monday. He seemed to like them a lot...he was smacking his lips the whole time. He was even fussing in between bites because I guess I wasn't getting those bites to his mouth fast enough. :) Tomorrow we will start Sam on squash...we'll see how he likes those. We weighed our little guy yesterday....he is about 15 pounds and 11 ounces. His weight seems to be leveling out.....but who knows, he could have another growth spurt over the weekend. We are taking him to get his 4 month pictures done tomorrow. Hopefully we will get one or two cute ones. :)

4 Months Old!
Samuel is 4 months old today! He had his 4 month old check up this past Wednesday. He weighs 15 pounds and 4 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches long. The doctor was very impressed with Sam's progress. I told him I was concerned that Sam may be a bit behind developmentally. He said absolutely not....and asked me whose baby I was comparing him to. How did he know I was doing some baby comparing! :) Anyway, Sam is exactly where he is supposed to be. He is become more vocal this past week and really enjoys playing on his floor gym. He has discovered his hands....they are swinging all the time....Sam is either hitting Mommy or himself...or he has them in his mouth. He is beginning to drool...this I've heard is a early sign for teething to come. Sam did finally graduate into size 2 diapers this past week. I was really trying to use all our size 1 diapers up....but Sam is the boss. The size 1's could not hold all Sam had to offer. :)

Sam is eating cereal now. The doc gave the go ahead at our visit. The first time Sam tried his cereal, I made it very runny and he liked it. When I thickened it up, he was not happy. Each day he has accepted it more and more. He is doing great and we will start vegetables on Wednesday! My mom says to watch out for peas. Apparently all my siblings and I were pea spitters. Yikes!

We had a nice 4th of July. We celebrated with our friends Jon and Angela and their kids Ella and Holden. Everyone hit the pool except me and Sam. I think we may try to get Sam in the pool one evening when the sun has gone down. When we got home the evening of the 4th, our neighbors were putting off lots of fireworks. I was nervous that they would disturb our little guy, but I was wrong. He slept right through it all.
