No Before Pic, Just the After
Our bonus room has been a dumping ground for at least the past year. It got even worse when I brought home some boxes of teacher stuff in May. This was on the "to do list" all summer long and I just didn't get to it....out of sight, out of mind. Anyway, with Sam reading more now, I wanted to have chapter books accessible to him. Drew is not big enough for these books and I've been waiting for Sam to start to get into them. We've pulled chapter books here and there from upstairs through the years, but they were very unorganized. Sam asked for a specific book the other day and that's all I needed to fuel me to get this project going. As you can see, I've acquired a lot ofc hapter books through my years of teaching. I knew I needed a lot of shelving but was reluctant to spend high dollar on a nice shelving unit. I've used crates like this in my classroom but never this many. Oh the looks Drew and I got walking to the checkout. You would think I was robbing the place. Ha! The crates really fit together nicely, and I zip tied them for extra stability. I wish I had captured Sam's face when he saw it. PRICELESS! I also organized my office/teacher/craft stuff in bins and the dresser. Now I know what I have, and I can get to it easily. I even cleared out the closet up there. My car was full this morning of things for Goodwill and I filled it again this afternoon. My next project is downsizing the attic. We have a few things that need to come out and go to someone who will use it instead of store it. Yes I could make a killing on what I take to goodwill, but much of it was given to us and I don't want to make money off it. Plus, I don't think I have what it takes to do a garage sale, but I admire those who do. This room can function now as a quiet homework/reading area, place to practice piano, workout room, craft zone, and occational guest room. All in all, we had a productive day! :)
