Stocking Up on XOXOX

When Drew and I go to bible study, we are so close to Mama and Grandaddy. We just can't resist stocking up on some hugs and kisses....we usually get some cookies out of the deal too. 😉

2nd Grade Star

How cool is this...there is a push to make sure students actually understand the concept of addition and subtraction and place value opposed to memorizing steps to complete. This is such a higher level of learning! Oh the places our Sam is headed on his education journey!

So Thoughtful

Sweet Sam brought this home yesterday. How amazing is that boy! I know it never occurred to me how hard my parents worked to provide for me until I was much older. So cool!

Drew's Family

We were drawing the other day, and Drew was busy drawing little figures that represent his family...well, part if it anyway. He even included our sweet Georgia. ๐Ÿพ Pretty sure he doesn't remember her, but he hears us talk about her from time to time. I got a laugh out of him including Morris...that's a cat my sisters and I used to chase around Grandmother Hayden's house in Kentucky in the late 80s. Each night Drew asks me to tell him about kitty cats, and I have retold the same tail countless times about Morris the cat. I have included an old picture with Morris the cat in it. Poor cat...we sure loved (squeezed) him to pieces! ๐Ÿฏ

The Yellow Trails

When I go to Heaven, I know there will be hiking trails like the ones we encountered today. I am so blessed to have two little sidekicks that enjoy getting out in nature as much as I do. I filled their bellies up with lunch before leaving the house, which set us up for a wonderful hike. We bundled up, each packed a bag with water and snacks, and off we were. This was our first time on the yellow trails. The path was marked by yellow arrows or yellow dots of spray paint. That made the journey quite fun...almost felt like the movie Troop Beverly Hills. ๐Ÿšฉ There were so many ups and downs along the way, and we really had to watch our footing. I think we ended up hiking a little over 3 miles. We got a bit turned around at one point on the yellow trails and started back tracking...which ended up being okay. We weren't quite done after that, so we hit the blue trails. We happened upon an old grave yard and veered off the trail to explore. We didn't stay there long....got a little spooked with all the sounds rustling around us. A small hawk type bird flew up from out of nowhere, and there we were in the middle of a scary movie! ๐Ÿ˜ฃ We found our way back to the trail and made it back to the lake. THIS WAS SUCH AN AMAZING DAY! We will definitely return there again soon (minus the grave yard).

Pit Stop

Drew made Aunt Jes a bracelet at church on Wednesday. We made a quick pit stop by her school to deliver it.

Celebrate!

🎉Drew got to wish Aunt Jes a happy happy birthday in person on Tuesday. Here they are rocking out on the piano. 🎹

Well Made

This is an example of a well made toy. It started out with my brother Stephen sometime in the early 70s. It was thoroughly played with in the 80s by my sister Melissa, me, and baby sis Jes. It had a full life during the 90s and 2000s with 15 grandchildren. Sam enjoyed it and now...the end of the line...Drew Asher. Surviving 21 children is a pretty good feat! I wonder how many great grandchildren will get to enjoy the famous motor car.

Marshmallow Mansion

Sam honed in on his architecture skills while at Mad Scientists on Monday. He learned about structure and balance and stability. Pretty cool stuff for a 2nd grader!

๐Ÿ‚A Fall Walk๐Ÿ

We picked Sam up from his after school club on Monday and headed to the nature park. Look at all those leaves! Beautiful!
