Breakfast at School

Sam did such a good job when we dropped Drew off this morning!  As a reward, we picked up some breakfast at school. He loves that. I would do it every morning, but time is an issue most days. For the time being, we'll reserve it as a treat for good behavior.

5 Months Old

Drew is 5 months old. He weighs 15 pounds and 3 ounces...that's a half pound gain since last week. I have put away all size 3 month clothing and all his little socks. I found a size 1 pair of shoes in his closet. He will only get a few more wears out of them. His little tootsies are growing. :) Drew has started playing with rattles and other small toys. He has been making sounds like mama, dada, and bubba. I don't think he's really saying those words...I think he is merely repeating the sounds we are making.  He is still in size 2 diapers and eating 4-5 ounce bottles and/or nursing every 3-4 hours. We haven't started any solids yet. We are waiting for him to get better at sitting up. Drew enjoys being around other babies at school. His best friends are a set of 9 month old twins. They are very sweet and gentle with Drew.  The little boy likes to hold Drew's hand and the little girl steals kisses from him. I wish I could snap a pic of them interacting but no pictures are allowed at his school. Drew absolutely loves Sam!  He watches his every move and holds onto his words. Sam is beginning to be more interested in Drew as he sees him responding to him with smiles and squeals. We are blessed for sure!

Note to Self....

Do not give phone to this mischievous one...he is capable of a lot more than you think. He turned off not one but two of my daily alarms. That usually wouldn't be a problem, because one or both of the boys are up. Well, not this morning.  I just woke up and started nursing Drew when I am normally about ready to walk out the door at this time.  Whoops! I'm taking a deep breath and hoping everything gets done and we're not late. Look at that sweet face...makes it hard to be mad. :) It is unreal how many things he had to do in order to accomplish this task. Smart kid! Thank goodness I have Nick to help us get ready and out the door. Even in the midst of a chaotic morning,  I am thankful for this day. More and more, Nick and I are finding ourselves able to get past/not sweat the small stuff. So, if you find yourself in the middle of a crazy day....just think to yourself,  at least I didn't wake up an hour and an half late. Ha! Happy Monday!  :)

Welcome Home

We visited Grandmother and Granddaddy today. They just got back from vacation. We saw all sorts of family while we were there. :)

Sweet Shade

The boys and I found a sweet piece of shade to sit in this afternoon.  I think the fresh air did us all some good. We are looking forward to the temperature dropping in the coming days.

Little Buddy Under the Weather

Over the past few weeks we've been battling allergies/the change in temperature/sinus infections.....pretty much the crud at our house. Poor Drew finally fell victim to the crud. He developed a pitiful cough and even started to wheeze a bit. We've been suctioning his nose out and using saline mist which seems to have helped. He went to school yesterday but just wasn't himself. I kept him home today to take him into the doctor. It ends up that Drew has a double ear infection and all the mucus draining is causing him to wheeze, sneeze, and cough. So Drew was prescribed his very 1st antibiotic....well, since his NICU days. So glad Nick and I decided he needed to see the doctor. Drew weighs 14 pounds and 11 ounces. They didn't measure him, but over the weekend we measured him at 25-26 inches. These numbers put him in the 50th percentile for height and somewhere between the 25th and 50th for weight. What a big growing boy! He turns 5 months old in 5 days.
