Great Week

My classroom is setup and ready for a new batch of kiddos. We've had about a week to get used to waking up early and getting out the door. So far so good. The school week has worn the boys out. I think we're gonna take the day off to celebrate tomorrow. :)

The School Groove

The boys are doing great getting back into the groove of school. Sam enjoyed water play with his class today. Drew's turn will be tomorrow. Drew gave me some tears at drop off this morning. I handled it pretty well. His teacher said it didn't last long. Thank goodness!  :) We are all doing a lot better than I thought we would about getting up and out the door in the morning. Hopefully this will only get better with time.

Drew's 1st Project :)

Back to School

We're back to school. It was hard to part ways this morning, but we did it. There were no tears involved....almost on my part. Both boys had a wonderful day.

Merry Christmas?

The CRAZIEST thing happened as we were leaving Gulfport today. Sam asked if I would play some Christmas music. He knew I had a rogue Christmas cd in the player that didn't get put away after this past Christmas. As soon as the music started playing, we look over and see Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus riding in the car next to us. We couldn't believe it.  We waved and he rolled his window down. He told Sam he would see him in December.  I'm not sure who was more excited...Sam or me. Even Drew was excited. That definitely was the cherry on top of a great trip.  We didn't snap a picture when Santa's window was down...I think we were all in shock. We did get this blurry one though. So crazy!

Road Trip

The boys and I took a super spontaneous trip to the beach with my sister and her two kiddos. We had a great time! The hotel was nice and our view way spectacular.  We were right across from the beach. The beach in Gulfport was very different from the beaches i've ever experienced. You could walk out a quarter of a mile and still only be in about waist high water. There were lots of sand bars among the water. This type of beach was PERFECT for the boys. They could run around in the ocean and not get knocked down by waves. They really enjoyed digging on the sand bars. We saw a dolphin on day two. He was between us and the shore and at first glance, he looked like a shark. I FREAKED out! The whole dolphin ordeal didn't phase the boys. Drew was actually napping on Linda when it happened. Later that same day, we watched tons of fish jumping out of the water all around us.  There were so many, we actually made a game out of who saw the most first. At one point, Becca and I kept getting bit by fish. It didn't hurt, but boy did it startle us. We got spooked and started running toward shore. This actually drew them to us and we got bit more. We both had red marks on our legs by the time we made it to shore. We never brought a camera to the beach...just took mental pictures. :) We did take some pictures before leaving today with the beach in the background.  I will post those soon. Nick and I will definitely be taking the boys back next year. :)

Smore Silly

On our last night in Gulfport, we roasted marshmallows on a fire pit and made smores. You may think this would have kept us up pretty late, but it was surprisingly the opposite.  The boys were hyped up like crazy when we first got back to the room, but they were asleep 5 minutes after these silly pictures were taken.

Raising Canes

We ate Raising Cane's our first night in Gulfport. This is the restaurant that Nick ate at every Sunday after church and before grocery shopping when we lived in Louisiana. Memories! It was as good as I remembered.  Wish I could have brought some back for Nick.

Grandmother's House

We stopped by Grandmother's house this morning before Aunt Kathy headed home. Can't believe I didn't capture her in any pictures this morning. The boys had a great time playing with everyone.

Concrete Truck

We finally had our collapsed driveway fixed. What a cool thing for our boys to watch.

Safari

☆Seeing animals up close...cool
☆Hungry animals heads in the car...scary
☆Emus staring you down...super scary

All in all, it was an experience. Sam and I were a bit freaked out. Drew couldn't get enough. Nick ended up doing most of the animal feeding. Ha!
