Surprise!
Sam and Drew were surprised to see Grandmother and Granddaddy when they got home from school today. Sam enjoyed showing off his art room. Drew showed them how good he is getting at standing. He also stole all of Grandmother's kisses. :)

Happy 80th Thomas Elton!
My dad turns 80 on the 26th of this month. We all got together today to celebrate this special occasion. The grandkids performed a skit detailing my dad's life through the years. This was super cute and my dad loved it. We also surprised Dad with a big screen television...complete with a dvd with birthday messages from the whole crew. This was quite the tear jerker! Sweet Sam sat through the whole thing on Granddaddy's lap. Our boys sure love their Granddaddy! Here's to a great Dad and Granddaddy! I'll add more photos once my siblings share. I wasn't able to take too many today.

Answered Prayer?
So the weather is kinda funky this morning. I started off at 6:45am to make it to my early morning faculty meeting. I slid on the road coming out of our neighborhood and then again getting on the highway. At that point I said a silent prayer asking for a sign if I should continue my journey onto school. **As if the 1st two slides had not been enough.** Almost immediately I heard a truck honking beside me. A man said my back tire was almost flat and I needed to get to a service station. So I turned around and got the tire packed. They know me by name at our local tire place...3 out of 4 of my tires are patched now. So, we are home for the day. All schools in our area are closed...except our system. I fear things are going to get worse throughout the day and they may experience a difficult time when they dismiss. Prayers for that situation. As for us, we are safe and sound at home for the rest of this cold and dreary day. Thank goodness for flat tires. :)

Check it Out
We didn't get a speck of precipitation, but up the road 20 miles was a different story. Roads were slick but passable. We drove slow and made it to school okay. It was gone within an hour and a half of arriving at school.

10 Months Old
Drew is 10 months old. He weighs 20 pounds and 8 ounces. He measures 28 inches long. He has 3 teeth that are about 85% pushed through...1 on top and 2 on the bottom. He can make all sorts of noise. He loves his big brother with all his heart. Anything he finds on the ground goes in his mouth. He has a thing with socks...socks in his mouth give him such joy. He can stand on his own for about 5 seconds. He enjoys cruising around the couch, coffee table, cabinets and such. He is probably a few weeks from his 1st steps. Man, we are not ready for that. Ready or not, here he comes. Drew continues to be a great sleeper. He is happy at all times unless he's hungry or his teeth hurt. He will also cry if Sam cries. Today Sam spilt his drink and started crying...and then Drew. Sam had to console Drew. I think Drew thought he was hurt. Nick and I are having the best time watching these boys grow. We are blessed!

Snow Day Yay!
We had a lot of fun playing in the snow this morning. Drew enjoyed knocking snow off the bushes. He also enjoyed the hands-on lesson in the making of snow angels from his big brother. This snow was perfect for snow balls. We even managed to get a small snowman out of it. We're all tuckered out now and ready for snuggling and napping.
1st Snow
Well, we got a little snow last night. Drew was amazed when he saw it. When I went to get Sam up up, he replied, "I've seen snow Mom." Does that sound like a teenager or what. We slept in this morning a bit...yes 9am is sleeping in these days. We're going get these boys fed and hopefully take a short walk in this white stuff. Sure wish we'd get some more.

Drew at School
We have been getting quite a few pictures from Drew's teacher this week. It warms my heart to sneak a peek into his fun filled day. Here's what he was up to this past week...more painting, exploring toys in water, experimenting with dirt, eating his first cracker, and learning about farm animals. His teachers are amazing!
Purple Day
Sam and I, along with others at school, wore purple today to raise money to fight Alzheimer's. We brought pictures of Grandmother Hayden to share, and I proudly wore her "A" necklace today. It's hard to believe she left us to live in Heaven nine years ago. When she died, it made me sad that my children would never know her. I was wrong...her spirit is alive in my mom and her siblings. She's alive in the stories and pictures we share with Sam and will soon share with Drew. Rest in peace Mary Aunita Hayden. We miss you.
