The Dominican Republic

Nick and I spent 5 days in the Dominican Republic this past week.  We had a blast! The weather, food, location, etc. was amazing. We enjoyed spending time with friends from previous trips and meeting new friends. We had time to recharge, reconnect,  and refocus. I wish I had taken more photos...especially at the beach. I kept telling Nick we needed to get a shot of the 2 of us at the beach, but time slipped away from us. There were so many fun activities at the resort. One of my favorite was finger painting and of course swimming and spa treatments.  We had our own butler the whole trip. He delivered scented pillows we ordered from the pillow menu, prepared bubble baths, made dinner reservations, and set up activities for us. Some butlers were better than others...ours seemed to be better than other guests on the trip with us. He was constantly checking up on us and surprising us daily. We even carried a cell phone so we could reach him 24 hours day. We'll miss our butler. :)
My parents stayed with the boys. Sam was so excited that Grandmother and Granddaddy got to sleep over. Drew and Sam both did great. Drew didn't seem to realize we were gone, but Sam had a few times when he needed some tight squeezes to get over missing us. I was the same way...the 1st morning in the DR was hard. Knowing the boys were in good hands made it much easier. Sam said his favorite part of the week was when Grandmother surprised him with his newly mended stuffed animals. He had more than a few that needed some TLC. It sure was fun, but it's great to be back with our sweet boys!

Newspaper

I forgot to post this picture...Sam was in the newspaper 2 weeks ago. This is from the Dragon Dash. Sam loved running with the principal and his buddy Charlie.

Fallapaloosa

We went to the fall festival at church this afternoon.  We were going to put the kids in their costumes,  but Sam decided he didn't want to wear his. We just put Drew in some festive pjs. There were lots of fun things to do.

6 Months

We are celebrating Drew's half birthday today. Sam wants to head to Toys R Us later today to start on Christmas wishlists. He is looking forward to helping Drew with his list. :) It will be interesting to see what they like. I think we will also make a trip up to the attic to pull down some toys for the boys. Thank goodness for hand me downs! It sure has been fun watching these sweet brothers interact this morning.

Can't Believe...

It is so hard to believe that we were preparing to head to the hospital this time 6 months ago. Drew Asher is such a blessing! He adds so much to our little family.
Tonight, Nick and Sam enjoyed a night out to the movies, while Drew and I enjoyed a night in. Drew's sweet personality grows each day. He is so fun to tickle, kiss, snuggle, etc. We have his 6 month check up later this week. He weighed 16 pounds and 2 ounces when we went to the doctor on Saturday.  I'm sure his weight will be going up steadily as we increase his intake of solids. These past 6 months sure have been great. :)

Pp is for Pumpkin

We visited Jones Orchard this morning.Sam walked up and down the aisles of pumpkins carefully inspecting each one until he found the perfect one for him. They were just beautiful!  It was so educational for Sam to see the yellow flowers that grow into yellow and green melons and then turn into gorgeous orange pumpkins. After spending some time with his cousins choosing pumpkins,  Sam got to pick pears. He even ate one right off the tree....yummy. What a fun fall day!

We Love the Zoo!

Sam wanted to go to the zoo this morning.  We bundled up and headed that way bright and early. The temperature was about 60 degrees. If it would have been any cooler, we would have needed jackets. Sam and Drew had a blast. I carried Drew so he could see the animals. I couldn't believe how good Sam was.  He stayed right with me and was a big help with Drew. It was fun to see how Drew reacted to the different sights and sounds. Sam's favorite animal was the baby Bonobo who was nursing.  His mama brought him over and we got a close look at him. I couldn't get my camera out fast enough.  Sam also took enjoyment in watching the bonobos that were "exercising." Yikes, he had lots of questions about that. Thank goodness I was able to get him to move onto another exhibit. Sam also enjoyed the sea lion show. It's been a while since we saw that.
