1st Steps!

Sam took his 1st steps Wednesday evening. Nick and I were so excited. We got the 2nd attempt on video.....couldn't grab the digital camera fast enough though. He showed Grandmother and Granddad his new accomplishment yesterday afternoon. We practiced in the grass after dinner last night. I'll try to get some pictures posted this weekend. So Sam beat Mommy on taking his first steps.....I was 15 months. :)

Sam had to go back to the doctor for his ears this week. He got another round of antibiotics that seem to be doing the trick. Sam weighs 27 pounds and 4 ounces! Both Nana and Grandmother said all that will fall off once he starts walking. We will see. I hope he keeps his chunky legs and cheeks. :)

A Year Ago Today.....

One year ago today, we brought our sweet Samuel home from the hospital. Today ended his 6 week stay in the NICU. I remember being a little nervous driving with him in the car for the first time. Having him home was surreal.....no more visiting our sweet baby in the hospital...he was home! Look how much he has grown since that 1st ride home.

As you can probably tell, Sam is about to bust out of his car seat. He went to the doctor this past week and weighs 26 pounds and 4 ounces and measures 33 inches long. Poor little guy has a double ear infection, but his berry flavored medicine is making him feel much better. Needless to say, we are shopping for a new car seat.

Sam and I are on Spring Break/Easter Break this week. On Monday we headed to SFACS to see old friends. Monday was a full day of boo-boo's for Sam. Before we left the house, he pulled a plug out and it popped him right under his eye. At SFACS, he took a spill and knocked the side of his head real good. That night, he fell into the corner of the coffee table....which he has never had an issue with for the past 4 months...until now. He cut himself under the other eye. So basically, it looks like we beat our child. Poor Sam! He's a tough little guy. Oh, did I mention he got into dog food on Monday....this was not Sam's 1st time eating dog food....Yuck! On Tuesday, we visited our friends at the NICU. Believe it or not, this time last year, Sam was still there. They were so excited to see him and how much he has grown. On Wednesday, Sam and I colored eggs. That was a lot of fun. Today we have been getting ready for our trip to Nashville. Tomorrow, Mommy and Sam will take our 1st road trip on our own. We are visiting our friend Blain for his 1st birthday party. We are very excited! :)

A Full Week

Sam had a very full week. We snapped lots of pictures...as usual. :) He surprised us by saying a few new things. He said "Hi Granddad" to my dad one morning. That night he said "Hi Da-da" to Nick. It was SOOO sweet. We asked him a question one day this week and he responded..."Huh." He has also been saying "Nana" this week. Sam is getting closer and closer to walking. Yikes is all I have to say about that! His balance becomes better each day. This week he has been up on his knees walking. It looks so strange. We are getting ready for Sam's 2nd Easter...this will be his first at home. Last year he celebrated Easter in the NICU. Hard to believe that was a year ago.

Sam took a fall this day and had to make a visit to the dentist. Poor little guy gave us all a scare, but he is just fine. He got a sticker and toothbrush out of the whole deal.
